Regnery Publishing’s president, Thomas Spence, says "blacklisting" conservative authors has become a common practice in the publishing industry, an un-American trend his company rejects. After Simon & Schuster canceled its publication of Sen. Josh Hawley’s book The Tyranny of Big Tech, accusing him of complicity in the pro-Trump riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, Spence wrote a column for the Wall Street Journal headlined “Blacklists Are the Rage in Publishing,” in which he announced that Regnery would publish Hawley’s book instead.
