The Fourth Ward Excavation Project is a training excavation run by the Archaeology Department of Houston Community College. Since 2012, HCC archaeology students, under the guidance of Professor Scotty Moore, have been investigating the historic Freedmen's Town neighborhood, also known as Houston's Fourth Ward.

History professor Dr. Jesse Esparza invited Koran and Vietnam war veterans to Central Campus to be interviewed by his class as part of his digital storytelling project. The interviews will be archived and preserved as part of the Latino Americans: 500 Years of History, produced by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA). Professor Esparza participated in HCC's Digital Storytelling workshops conducted by Storycenter.org.
