Communications/FERPA/Compliance
Casey Chavez - Dean, Dual Credit Partnerships and Initiatives
This presentation aims to equip dual credit faculty with effective strategies for maintaining clear, professional, and timely communication with high school partners, P-16 Initiatives, and their academic departments at Houston Community College (HCC). The program covers essential touchpoints, including the roles of high school liaisons and their P-16 team, as well as practical guidance on handling roster discrepancies, grade reporting, and classroom concerns.
A portion of the presentation focuses on FERPA compliance, emphasizing the importance of protecting dual credit students' privacy while collaborating with the high school liaisons in ensuring their academic success. By the end of the session, faculty members will have a comprehensive understanding of how to foster positive communication, ensure adherence to institutional and legal protocols, and contribute to the success of dual credit programs.
