Erika Whitney G.'s "Stick to Your Own Circle" Reception at Southeast Campus

Stick to Your Own Circle is an exhibition of multiple round-like wall sculptures made out of plaster cloth and miscellaneous materials, a few paintings, and sculptures by Erika Garrett. The title of the show refers to the shapes of the work and refers to the saying of sticking to your own small circle of friends and the difficulty of being a part of a set group of peers and colleagues. The work itself is meant to feel like it is in conversation with one another: there are different types of work, from sculpture to more traditional paintings, breaking the boundaries of working within one medium. By fully transforming the gallery from the floor to the walls, the installation immerses the viewer and asks us to question our own circles.
