F8B (Second 8-Weeks) START March 22, 2021, at 12:01 am
Each semester I try to get a head start for our classes so that you know a little bit about what's going on in our course and can hit the ground running. I am NOT trying to confuse you! There is a lot to do each semester and I like to get started as early as I can.
Classes start at 12:01 am on the day and date that is in the HCCS Academic Calendar, which is at the bottom of the HCCS Homepage. Near the bottom of the HCCS Home Screen, there will be a blue, oval button that reads ACADEMIC CALENDAR. You will find all of the important dates for each of your courses in this ACADEMIC CALENDAR. These are the events that are listed in the ACADEMIC CALENDAR.
Event Type
Until our classes actually start, take your time to go the HCCS Learning Web and read the syllabus for your class, you can find it by copying and posting this link https://learning.hccs.edu/faculty/ruth.dunn/soci1301-27 into your browser and then scrolling down until you have the correct syllabus which is very long and probably boring, but read it carefully anyway.
Anything that isn’t in the Syllabus will be in the Modules Tab in EO-Canvas. Once you have access to our class, click on Modules on the left hand Menu Bar. Read the title of each folder, open it, read what’s there for each folder so that you will know where everything is and what you are supposed to do. It’s a lot, but it’s there to help you do well in our course. When you have questions, look in the syllabus and look in the Modules before asking me where to find something. I don’t mind helping, in fact that’s my job and my passion, but you have to do your part, too.
Now, DON’T PANIC YET! Breathe! Breathe! Breathe! Panic after classes start! 😉 You can do this! You really can and I am here to help you reach your goals and your dreams. Also, the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything is now and always will be 42! 😊
